Walking the Cats - Rachael Ray Nutrish: Fur Real Moments

Walking the Cats - Rachael Ray Nutrish: Fur Real Moments - littleladylittlecity.com
Both Wigs and Sylvester were rescue kittens, but Sylvester's life started out the hardest. We found him in the middle of the road on a busy highway, poor guy, and were lucky enough to scoop him up before he got hurt. So because of their start in life it should be no surprise that we show them how much we absolutely adore their company by spoiling them rotten. One of our favorite ways to do so is to go on walks together around the mountain. While they are usually pretty good about walking, sometimes neither one is having it. To help them out we found a pair of pet backpacks, and truth be told I think Wigs enjoys being carried around (like the princess she thinks she is) more than walking, haha.

One of the things I love about Rachael Ray is that she is also a huge animal lover.  She doesn't just talk the talk either, as Rachael's personal proceeds from sales of Nutrishish have gone toward food, medical supplies, and treatments for animals in need. And if that's not enough, the Nutrish brand makes food and treat recipes with simple ingredients like real meat and wholesome veggies, so you know it's good for your four legged friends.

Rachael Ray is actually doing a pretty fun little contest where you could win a year's supply of food as well as $1500! All you have to do is upload a picture of your furry friend and pick a caption from the site! So freaking easy you'd be silly not to enter. Just head over here to enter. If you do enter I would love to see what picture and caption you use so be sure to share it in the comments below. Good luck!

Hello Again

Mountain House - littleladylittlecity.com
So I had an unexpected trip back to Phoenix last week, hence the lack of posts, but I'm back on the mountain once again with a little Sylvester who won't leave my side (I think he missed me) and enjoying the crisp cool air that is signaling fall is just around the corner.

The day before I got back I had a wonderful little surprise: my blog has been shortlisted for the Bloggers Blog Award set up by Hayley over at Tea Party Beauty. To say I was shocked would be an understatement for sure! If you'd like to cast a vote my way I would be so thrilled, just head over here!

Hope you all are having a great Thursday!

Friday Fancies

We spent this past week getting the mountain house back up in running order. The grass/weeds outside basically looked like they had swallowed the house, haha. I guess that's what happens when you come back 3 months later than you expected. Everything is looking so much better, yaya. We've also been enjoying walks with the cats and cooler evenings outside on the grass. How was your week and what are you all up to this weekend?

What I'm Watching - Mission Impossible Rouge Nation

What I'm Watching - Mission Impossible Rouge Nation - littleladylittlecity.com
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation Poster- via Paramount
Last week Will and I went to see Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, and it was amazing! When it comes to the Mission: Impossible movie series I was really underwhelmed when the first one came out, and truth be told the I felt the same way when the second one came out as well. I'm definitely the type of person that more or less keeps giving movies a chance, especially franchises (even if it's just watching it on DVD). I felt that the first two were trying to take themselves a little too seriously, but by the third they had hit their stride. When Simon Peg joined the crew and brought his human and charm with him in Ghost Protocol I was hooked! The marriage of action and comedy can really elevate a typical action movie into something better.
Just like most of Tom Cruise's action movies the stunt sequences are insane! Within the first five minutes of the movie we see him hanging onto the side of a plane as it takes off. Within the first. five minutes. On top of that, he did the stunt himself, and you can tell. A little aside about Tom Cruise: I use to not care for him all that much (thought a lot of his movies were overrated) and that feeling compounded when the whole 'glib' and Brooke Shields thing happened. However, time has passed and he's either kept a lower profile or maybe I just haven't been paying attention to him, and my dislike has subsided some. I have more recently been able to enjoy his movies, like Edge of Tomorrow. Did you guys see Edge of Tomorrow? So freaking good! He really does play such a charismatic leading man that I find it hard not to love him now. The Mission Impossible franchise 100% builds on that, and the filmmakers seem to go bigger for each installment. A lot of sequels water down the story with more explosions and action sequences (I'm looking at you, half assed Furious 7), but not so with MI: RN.

Since Ghost Protocol the Mission Impossibles movies seem to have found a groove with its core team: Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames (joined on in M:I:2), Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner (both joined M:I:III).  The addition of Rebecca Ferguson, a badass character who isn't a love interest, was the icing on the cake. I'm really hoping she will show up in the next installment (the franchise doesn't have the best track record with reoccurring female characters, something I'm willing to forgive if they continue adding great characters like Fergusons' in future movies).

So have you guys seen Mission: Impossible Rouge Nation yet or are you planning on seeing it?

Vintage Paint By Numbers Wall Mural

Vintage Paint By Numbers Wall Mural - littleladylittlecity.com
I recently shared the above picture of the vintage paint by numbers wall mural Will and I did years back on Instagram and got some questions about it. So I thought I would share our little video about the process again. The video isn't very long but definitely gives you an idea of what it took to do it.

This is still one of my favorite projects ever! While it was extremely time consuming and at times a little scary standing on our little makeshift scaffolding we had a blast doing it. If you want to see more pictures of the process you can check out my original post.

Would you guys ever paint a wall mural in your place?

We finally made it to the mountain and it feels pretty great, even with all the dust/cobwebs, and weeds engulfing the house haha. We have just been slowing going through and getting everything all livable again. The cats are loving watching all the mountain animals (especially the birds) through the windows and they've been enjoying their little walks and outside time. I think this weekend we might treat ourselves with a movie go to our favorite movie theater ever and some of their super yummy food. Seriously all theaters should serve a full menu! What are you all up to this weekend?

Delaware State Fair

Delaware State Fair - littleladylittlecity.com
After about six years of going to visit Will's parents in Delaware we finally made it to the State Fair. It started to be a running joke with Will and I because somehow even if we were in Delaware at the time we would always miss the fair. We always made plans to go, but somehow just missed it. Well, not this year, and I'm glad because it was really fun.

I don't think I had been to a big State Fair since I was in high school We have been to a little tiny county fair out in West Virginia, but truth be told it was all kind of depressing. Thankfully, this one was pretty darn fun. Lots of rides, and even more food!! I'm such a sucker for really delicious but probably deadly fair food. This time I was very proud of myself and only had one delicious funnel cake as a treat, instead of gorging on everything until my stomach ached, haha!

We went all out and took a ride up on the ferris wheel which was really beautiful. I discovered, though, that I apparently don't do well with a combination of heights and swaying. As soon as we were halfway up my brain jumped straight into fear mode and my hands quickly grabbed the center pole (like it would save me), haha. I was only brave enough to take a picture, then quickly handed my phone to Will and asked him to snap a couple more. All in all we had a really great time. Do you guys ever check out the State Fair in your neck of the woods?

Oh Hai! A Road Trip Recap

Oh Hai a Road Trip Recap - Littleladylittlecity.com
Long time no write, am I write? Haha! Well we have almost made it back to the mountain, but we had a detour up to the Boston area for a wedding before heading back down to Delaware to spend sometime with Will's parents. As usual, I had good intentions of doing at least a couple posts while traveling, but once we were on the road I basically said screw it and just enjoyed the ride. Best decision ever! Seriously, I just enjoyed the sites, my sir, and the cats. It was wonderful. However, I'm back now with a little bit of an update from our travels.
In past years we've done our cross country trip at lightening speed (we've done it about 6 times, so we've seen almost everything we want to see on that drive already), and usually we just want to make it to the other side asap. This time, though, we decided to slow things down and not kill ourselves. It was pretty nice having our little camper with us and not have to take clothes, cat stuff, and, computer stuff out of the car and into a hotel room every night. Just rolling up to our campsite, kicking back, and relaxing right away can be pretty nice. Even so, we are still pretty darn exhausted from the driving.

Wigs and Sylvester once again proved themselves to be amazing little travelers. Sylvester, in fact, has come leaps and bounds from our last drive across country. Usually he likes to hide under the passenger seat for at least the first 4 to 5 hours of the drive, but this time he only hid under the seat for about 5 minutes before climbing up on the back seat and stretching out. I have a feeling they are pretty excited to not be a car at least for the next couple of days too, hehe.

So what have you all been up too since I've been away? Share your posts in the comments I would love to check them all out!
