Pigtails 4 Life

This is probably one of the last days I will be able to wear this jacket during the daylight hours because Phoenix is suppose to hit it's first triple digits tomorrow. NOOOOO! Well, I guess the world is going to have to prepare itself for my super pale skin to start making its appearance again haha. But seriously I have super pale, like almost vampire pale, skin. I think I had a little bit of a tan when I was little but even then I have the memory of people being shocked at how pale my tan was for being a kid who lives in a city that has 290+ days of sun.

This shirt is my new jam! Ahhh I just love it so much, the color and the shapes are just perfection. It's my new favorite comfy casual top and I have the feeling that if you were to visit my house a couple of times over the next week or so you will catch me still rocking it, haha. It's so freaking comfy and cute.

Oh lordy even my eyes hurt looking at my pale arms haha.

So I'm pretty sure I can no longer be trusted to walk into a Target by myself anymore. Yesterday I went in for toothpaste and ended up leaving with three shirts, nail polish, a picture frame, some dry shampoo, jerky (which doesn't really count cause it was for Will and not me haha), and the previously mentioned toothpaste. I guess kudos to the Target buyers for finding some many wonderfully adorable things to stock their store with, hehe. Do any of you guys have a problem walking into target for one thing and leaving with a shopping cart full of extras?

Chef Tails - Smoked Salmon Breakfast Sandwich

Chef Tails - Smoked Salmon Breakfast Sandwich - littleladylittlecity.com
Growing up at least half of my pets were rescues. Learning at a young age just how many animals out there are looking for homes has really left a mark on me. In our little family when it comes to our pets we are all about animal rescues. Both Wigs and Sylvester were rescues, and they are perfection in my eyes (even when they are chortling in my face at 6AM haha). Because they are the apples of my eyes we do a lot of stuff with them, be it taking them for walks or driving across country with them. So when Rachael Ray come up with the ChefTails contest to create a meal inspired by their Rachael Ray Whitefish & Potato food, I thought this would be a fun new thing to enjoy with them. I mean, with Rachael Ray creating these meal combinations you know those ingredients must be good together.
Chef Tails - Smoked Salmon Breakfast Sandwich - littleladylittlecity.com
So the meal I came up with was a Smoked Salmon Breakfast Sandwich, and let me tell you this might be Will's new favorite breakfast, haha. As an added plus it's pretty darn filling and easy to whip up.

Ingredients:

1 piece of wheat bread toasted
1 egg
Cut of smoked salmon
Slice of tomato
Sriracha to taste
Butter for pan

Heat skillet on medium heat, place butter in skillet, let melt and coat the pan. When skillet is hot enough crake egg and cook until your sunny side up egg is to your liking or if you prefer you can also scrabble your eggs.. While egg is cooking chop salmon into small pieces, slice your tomato, and toast your bread. Once egg is cooked assemble open faced sandwich, top with the Sriracha, and enjoy.

And I'm pretty sure it's a given that if you're going to make an meal inspired by the ingredients in your cat's food then you kind of then have to eat your meal with at least one of the cats, right? Haha. Will is too good to me for doing this. When I proposed the idea to him he didn't even bat an eye at it, it's true luv!

To participate in the ChefTails Contest just create your own inspired meal and submit a photo for a chance to win a really awesome prize!

Home Tour - The Cats' Corner

Home Tour - The Cats' Corner - littleladylittlecity.com
I thought it would be fun to give you guys more of a look at the Cat's Corner we created in our little place (I shared a photo a week or so ago on Instagram). When we were working on fixing up the house I knew I wanted to put up some shelves for the cats. They are all about jumping up on places that they shouldn't be, so I thought I would give them a place where they could jump up and down from as much as their little hearts desired. We knew we were going to turn our little odd Arizona room into two separate rooms, a music/work room for Will and a craft room for me, and decided the new wall would be the perfect place for the shelves.

I figured I would also include a scratch post for them in the hopes they would leave our new couch alone (it's helped but they still love to be defiant, thank goodness for KittyCaps haha). It's kind of my favorite thing when I see Wigs standing on her back legs stretching up and scratching the pole up on the second shelf. I also added some of that lovely cruise ship blue carpet that use to cover almost all the floors of our place to the first shelf for some added scratching fun.

On a almost totally unrelated note I was getting tired of going through so many grocery bags (which was a lot when you scoop every morning and evening), so I bought a Litter Genie. Basically it's like a Diaper Genie but for cats and it is amazing! It holds a fair amount and most importantly it locks away the smells!! One thing I cannot stand is litter box smells, I have seriously considered trying to teach Wigs and Sylvester to use the toilet just so I wouldn't have to worry about kitty litter smells, but I have a feeling that would have backfired on me haha. Just thought I would share my experience with the Litter Genie with all you other lovely cat ladies.

Spring Time Style

Spring Time Style - littleladylittlecity.com
Last Thursday Will an I skipped out on work early to go enjoy some quality time together over some delicious drinks and food at happy hour prices. We very rarely go to eat out by ourselves, so it was a delightful treat, definitely a help to relieve some of the stresses of the work week. One thing I'm really loving about Phoenix nowadays is there are so many wonderful restaurants around now. On the rare occasions we eat out we now have so many places to chose from. In high school and college there were maybe a hand full of places that weren't chains and actually worth eating at. So, yay Phoenix!

I went ahead and recolored my hair and it definitely came out a lot brighter than I was expecting haha, but I'm digging it. The first time I colored it this color my hair wasn't being super cooperative, so this time I left it in for a couple hours longer and apparently that made all the difference. I also was super lazy and didn't tough up my roots, but I'm loving this color with my super dark roots. One thing I will never get used to though are all the crazy stares I get from people, rude much? Will and I are constantly wondering why people are staring at us when we walk around and then we both realize it's my hair. Sometimes I think if people could see the horrible expressions they are making with their faces they would be ashamed, but guess what: pink hair, don't care. So Bye Felicia, haha.

I didn't get any pictures with the cats this time because I figured since I was going out into public I probably shouldn't be covered in cat hair. I don't need to give other people things to stare at. So instead I give you what I like to call 'I have no idea what I'm doing with my body pose', which is usually how most outfit shoots go. I'm lucky to get the hand full of decent looking photos I do get because I swear 98% of the photos all look ridiculous like this I have a hard time taking myself seriously.

Rachael Ray Nutrish: Zero Grain Cat Food Review

As you can probably tell our two cats mean the absolute world to us. I mean, I did dedicate a wall to kitty shelves and make them a floor to ceiling scratching post. If that's not love I don't know what is, haha. So when it comes to their food we want to make sure it's right for them, which is why when I got the chance to try out Rachael Ray Nutrish: Zero Grain Cat Food I did a little research and couldn't help but jump at the chance to give it a try.
When the package came I had a feeling my two feline friends were going to love Rachael Ray Nutrish: Zero Grain Whitefish Dry Cat Food as then both came up to the box and started scratching at it before I even opened it, haha. What I really love about this cat food is that it is made with real whitefish, not meat by-product meal (I mean what the heck is that anyway?), and has zero grains, glutens or fillers. It might sound a little silly, but our cats are family and we try our best to eat healthy, so I want to make sure they do too. I want to them to be around for a very, very, very long time.
Rachael Ray Nutrish: Zero Grain Cat Food Review - littleladylittlecity.com
Another thing that I am really in love with about Rachael Ray Nutrish is that Rachael’s personal proceeds go to Rachael’s Rescue, an organization created to help shelter pets. Over $9 million so far has gone toward food, medical supplies and treatments for animals in need! I think that is just so incredible because there are so many animals that need help to find a good home. Rachael Ray, it seems, is helping to make that a reality for many more animals.

If you are interested in trying out the Zero Grain Whitefish dry cat food for your feline friends you can get a $3 off coupon right hereAnd, with this product being found not only in your local grocery store, but also places like Target, Walmart, and Amazon, you should have no problem getting you hands on a bag with your coupon!

Basic White Tee Is Basic

Basic White Tee Is Basic - littleladylittlecity.com
So I thought it would be fun to share what my usual outfits look like during the week. It's pretty basic, but I'm not basic, haha. No, it totally does make me pretty basic, but whatevs it's comfy and I'm not actually going anywhere, so it's cool. We work from home, so I pretty much always make sure I am comfy. I don't have a boss to impress. Also, I'm totally not going to lie, somedays I just rock my pjs all day long, and it's wonderful.
Basic White Tee Is Basic - littleladylittlecity.com
Basic White Tee Is Basic - littleladylittlecity.com
Our Saturday was the absolute best, we literally just laid on the couch with the cats and binge watched Daredevil on Netflix (which is pretty darn amazing, those fight scenes, so goooood!). These kind of weekends are the best especially after having such a stressful work week. I'm currently juggling 5 different videos, ughs. Thankfully, I am feeling recharged and ready to take on this work week  (of course, with a huge cup of coffee and maybe some apple pie.

So I'm not sure if I love or hate my roots with my pink hair. Sometimes I look at it and I'm like 'oh I kind of dig that look,' and I think it's going to look even better once I recolor my hair. Then, other days I'm like 'sweet baby Jesus why haven't I bleached those bad boys yet?' I think I will let them grow out a little bit more before bleach, pictures like this one just keep me on the side of 'it looks great.'
Basic White Tee Is Basic - littleladylittlecity.com
And just for giggles my favorite outtake from photos with the cats. I seriously just love everything about this photo! Sylvester looks like he is in a state of melancholy, Wigs is trying her best to knock my glasses off, and I am just like 'ohh, I love you guys,' haha.

Blue Striped Dress

Blue Striped Dress - littleladylittlecity.com
Days that I have to/get to go out into the world are some of my favorites, mainly because it forces me to dress up in something other than jeans and t-shirt or pjs, haha. When I'm just sitting in front of the computer all day working I want to be in the most comfiest of clothes. So, when I got to hang out with my friend Hannah on Saturday it felt nice rock this dress.
Blue Striped Dress - littleladylittlecity.com
Blue Striped Dress - littleladylittlecity.com
I got it last year at an outlet mall in Delaware when when we were visiting Will's parents. I really love the way this dress looks and feels, it's so wonderfully comfy and totally reminds me of something my middle school art teacher would wear. It's absolutely perfect for the whether we have been experiencing out here in AZ lately: warmer during the day and then cooler at night.

While I was wearing this outfit I got two complements from two different waiters at the restaurant we were at: one liked the blue and brown combo, and the other really liked my hair. It was funny, the waitress said that she really dug the light pink because it looked so good with my pale complexion. I don't think "pale" is typically a complement, but I am very pale, so I will take it as one haha. I've been really loving the pink/coral color, and it totally hasn't washed out nearly as fast as the lavender which makes me a very happy camper. I'm going on over 4 weeks and I think it's still looking pretty great. With the lavender I was re-dying almost every 2 1/2 weeks, it was crazy! I think I will probably re-dye the pink the coming week and enjoy it's slow fade once again.
Blue Striped Dress - littleladylittlecity.com
And just for kicks, and because I feel like it's my new thing to have my cats make an appearance in my outfit posts, here is my 'keeping it real' gif of what it's like trying to take pictures with these two nutter butters. Seriously, for every one good picture there are 10 where all hell is breaking loose!
