House Painting

Will and I spent all weekend painting the house. There was so much painting to be done. During the construction phase we fixed and added a few walls, so we needed to color match paint to get everything old and new working together. Every brand seems to treat colors differently, so more often than not we had to paint an entire surface, even if we only needed to cover a small patch. Side note as you can see I'm keeping it very real with this picture of myself looking a super hot mess, especially my hair. Ack! Definitely time for a root touch up and a recolor!

We also got this really beautiful apple green color for our hallway, but once we applied it we realized it just is not working. Waah-waah, I guess it's back to the drawing board, but I think we'll take it back to white and try a geometric pattern. I swear the color in person is so wonderfully pretty, but this photo seriously kind of makes it look like baby vomit, ughs. Man, who would have though a fun colored hallway could go so wrong? Haha. Thank goodness it's only paint.

While we had some slight setbacks with the green paint, the yellow we chose for one of our living room walls is perfection. It makes me so happy to just look at. I can't hardly wait to get our furniture (what little bit we have) into the house! I definitely have ideas about what stuff we're missing, so hopefully we are able to find it without spending much. Goodwill here we come!

Do you guys have any favorite places to shop for furniture or home decor? Any online places I should really check out?

  1. I actually used that same apple green color for a kitchen I helped renovate!! maybe you could use that color there?

  2. I've totally been there with a paint color just not working. It's super annoying, but you're right- at least it's just paint. You nailed it on the yellow, I love it! It's so exciting that you're getting to the fun parts now :)

  3. That is the perfect yellow!! What colour/brand is it? I'm not really in a position to paint right now as I'm renting, but my dream is to one day have a yellow kitchen.

Sadly, I've also had paint colours that I thought I would love not turn out. Trust me when I say that it's better to fix it up though and change it rather than leaving it. If you don't like it now, you won't grow to like it. I made that mistake and I ended up just being miserable every time I went into that room because the colour was so awful.

  4. Go you! I hope it all turns out well for you. It's so frustrating when a colour looks different on the wall. A couple of years ago we repainted a bathroom and it was supposed to be a cream colour but it ended up BRIGHT YELLOW. Not far of your perfect yellow, it was not what we were expecting at all.

  5. The best thing about paint is how changeable it is. Keep going!

  6. Love the colour! My husband and I moved into a new house two months ago. The walls are all grey. We've planned to repaint all of them with brighter and more cheerful colours but have never got the chance. Green and yellow will be on our list :)

  7. How exciting! I am moving in a new place very soon. The house has cream walls and I really want to paint it completely white so it is clean looking and versatile! Unfortunately I couldn't due to the fact that I am only renting and even landlady herself said no.

Gotta try to get used to cream walls then!

  10. It's Behr's Luscious Lemon and it really is the perfect yellow! The green we left up for a couple of days and I still wasn't feeling it so I knew it had to go for sure.

  12. Yes and I'm so happy about that because sometimes it takes me a little bit before I find the perfect colors, haha.

  13. I think every house needs at least one really fun and bright colored wall! They are the best.

  14. Awww such a bummer. I feel like landlords should always allow people to repaint as long as they repaint back to the original color before they move.

  15. Love love love the yellow wall, it brings so much light immediately. I was planning on buying the new Billy limited edition shelves with the yellow interior just to bring it in our living room as well, but I have finally opted to wallpaper the white ones, still I think I will be dreaming of a yellow wall :)
