5 Favorite Halloween Hits

Being that we live up on a mountain in the middle of nowhere we don't have any friends near by, so Halloween parties and trick or treaters are kind of off the list. So rather than getting all dressed up and hanging out with people or handing out candy I make Will we get comfy on the couch and enjoy way too many hours of my favorite Halloween movies/specials while eating candy! With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to share what we watch with you all just incase you all are planning a night in on Halloween as well.
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
I have always been obsessed with both the movie and the show. I mean c'mon who the heck didn't wish they were a witch with a taking cat?! I remember my younger self watching this and being absolutely mesmerized wishing I could be as cool as Sabrina in high school. Or at the very least be as fashionable, hehe. Also, can we just take a moment to recognize a super young and a little goofy looking Ryan Reynolds! Talk about super swoon worthy for this 11-12 year old, haha.
Hocus Pocus
Oh my word everything about this movie is wonderful, Bette Milder, Max (what a early 90's dream boat), magic, the costumes, the "I Put A Spell On You" sequence, humor that went way over my head as a kid, and a talking cat! This is one of those movies I have to watch more than just on Halloween because once a year is never enough.

The Witches
This movie scared the bejeezus out of me as a kid, and truth be told it still totally does, but I absolutely love it. As a kid I loved everything terrifying even if I was scared to go to bed without being completely covered by my blankets and every stuffed animal I had. They totally had super powers to keep me safe from all the things that go bump in the night, haha.
Garfield's Halloween Adventure
Ok, so are you guys starting to notice a trend of talking cats yet? Haha. What can I say I was seriously obsessed with cats even at a young age. My brother use to love Garfield and pretty much had Garfield everything (including a Garfield phone, which I still have), so the cartoon was a big hit in our household, and this VHS tape was a even bigger hit every Halloween after trick or treating.
The Simpsons Treehouse or Horrors
While growing up these episodes were a real treat because some years we would miss it and if you missed it you missed it. Kids these days with the internet and DVRs have no idea how lucky they are, haha. I remember a couple years putting trick or treating on hold just long enough to watch the episode before heading out again.

There you have it, our Halloween day/evening binge watching extravaganza! What are some of your favorite things to watch on All Hollows Eve?

4 Ways To Dress Up S'mores

4 Ways To Dress Up S'mores - littleladylittlecity.com
Two years ago we built a fire pit that we use and enjoy every fall, and of course we all know what goes hand in hand with a late afternoon fire: s'mores! Anytime friends visit I always make sure to have all the ingredients for a good s'more on hand. Recently though, I've started to experiment with the normal recipe (gram crackers, chocolates, and marshmallows), so I thought it would be fun to share my new favorite combos so far.
4 Ways To Dress Up S'mores - littleladylittlecity.com
1. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - I've always been a fan of the chocolate peanut butter combo, so it was a no brainer to replace the regular chocolate bar with a cup and take it to the next level. I am a firm believer that you can add peanut butter to just about anything and make it even more tasty: Oreos, waffles, vanilla wafflers just to name a few.

2. Kit Kat - Kit Kats are probably my favorite candy. Give me a frozen bar and I am one happy camper. I actually bought a whole bunch of them for s'mores at our wedding and totally didn't get one before they ran out, so I have feeling everyone else really loved them too, haha. I'm pretty sure you can use any chocolate candy and it will turn out pretty darn tasty.

3. Banana - Have you ever tired the magic that is a cooked banana?! You get this amazing rich, sweet, extra strength banana taste. Pair it up with chocolate, gram crackers, and a marshmallow and you are in for a treat.

4. Nutella - Replacing the chocolate with a smear of this delightful hazelnut spread and you'll be set. If you're feeling adventurous, add a banana and some peanut putter with it as well. Toast with Nutella, peanut butter, and banana is one of my favorite treats, so imagine how amazing that would taste as a s'more!

Of course I had to make a little gif of the different s'mores hehe. What are some of the ways you love to dress up your s'mores? I'm always looking for new delicious ways to make my s'mores even tastier.

Coat Days

littleladylittlecity.com
Monday we were able to take off work to celebrate Will's 30th birthday, so we went to the fancy theater (Alamo Drafthouse) about an hour away and enjoyed Gone Girl with a delicious dinner. It was so good and filling that we ended up not actually eating dinner that night haha. If you happen to live near an Alamo Drafthouse theater I highly recommend you go see a movie and treat yourself to something on their menu, I have a feeling you won't be disappointed. After the movie we came back to the mountain and I whipped up Will's birthday treat: butterscotch pudding and some cookie dough, haha. We are going back to Delaware to visit with Will's parents before we head back to Arizona at the end of Novemeber, so Will's mom will go a head and make him a birthday cake. It's a tradition she loves, so we make a point to do it with her.

I am SO in love with this outfit. Not only is it just ridiculously comfortable, but I feel like it looks really well put together too. This top is definitely fancier than just a normal t-shirt which helps to dress up the jeans. This is my very simple attempt at layering, and by layering I mean wearing a coat over an outfit haha. I think the only thing that's missing is a necklace, but sadly I left pretty much all my jewelry back in AZ. I guess that just means I need to get some more :)

I just had to share this photo of Will and the cats because I think it's so wonderful. I really feel like this needs to be turned into an oil painting and placed above a big old fireplace. Of course add a sea captain hat on top of Will's head (and maybe on the cats heads too, haha).

Must Haves For Bridesmaids

Must Haves For Bridesmaids - Little Lady Little City
dress // shoes // shawl // earrings // rings // BB Cream // mascara // lips

The lovely people over at Weddington Way contacted me about putting together my perfect bridesmaids outfit, so of course I jumped at the chance. They have so many wonderful selections and colors that everyone is sure to find a dress that they love. As some of you may know, when it came to my wedding, I didn't want to force one style on my bridesmaids because I wanted them all to love what they we wearing. Instead, I gave them the wedding's color pallet and told them to go find a dress in any style they like. Not only did they all look amazing, but they were able to choose pieces that they totally still wear.

Dress - The Aubrey is a cute little number with a little sass and a whole lot of wow. I think the thing that pushed me over the top with this little lady was the pockets. I LOVE dresses with pockets, it's just super cute and practical.

Shoes - When I go to a wedding I want to make sure I'm either wearing or have an extra pair of comfy flats for all the booty shaking I'm going to be doing. And these little glitter flats are super cute. I would totally pair them with some jeans for a casual day out.

Shawl - It can get chilly as the night goes on, so a shawl is always a must, and this guy is so freaking cute. Not only would it look amazing with this dress, but freaking adorable with just about anything else.

Earring - Cute little unique earrings, need I say more?

Rings - I've always been a big fan of big bold rings, and this is the perfect way to throw in some of your own style without clashing with the rest of the outfit. Just something fun.

BB Cream - I love this stuff, it gives a nice coverage without making it look like you have something caked on your face. And having SPF 30 is definitely an added bonus.

Mascara - This is my favorite mascara, cheap and goes on great. What more can you really ask for?

Lips - Love this balm stain, it goes on silky smooth and adds a delightful pop of color.

So what do you think of my look? Is there anything you would add or do differently?

Spooky Days on Mountain Tops

Spooky Days on Mountain Tops - Little Lady Little City
Well I'm going to say it looks like fall is a little confused this year up here on the mountain. We have been going from 70+ degree days to low 50 degree days within a matter of twenty four hours, haha. I feel like last fall it was far more gradual of a temperature dip and little to no jumping back up, but I guess it does make for some more excitement and crazy looking days like the one above. That image was taken at almost 1 in the afternoon, making our apple picking adventure very spooky. My first reaction was totally that we somehow ended up in Silent Hill, haha. It does make me want to get a hot cup of tea and put on a scary movie or maybe just watching every episode of Are You Afraid Of The Dark!

What are some of your favorite ways to spend a spooky looking day?

Grey Skies And Bright Cardigans

Grey Skies And Bright Cardigans - Little Lady Little City
The weather hasn't quite made up it's mind up here on the mountain yet, one day it's warm, the next it's very cold, then rainy, then the perfect crisp fall day. Even with the weather being a little confused things are definitely looking like fall. Our drives up and down the mountain are filled with wonderful  smatterings of reds, oranges, and yellows. It definitely makes that long drive more enjoyable.

I'm not sure why my hair in these pictures doesn't look purple, I had actually just reapplied the color, so it's currently quite purple, haha oh well. Hopefully the next outfit post I can have the hair once again be the shining star of the photos. Anyways I got this hat while I was in Portland and I'm so in love with it. I've been looking for a good comfy brown hat to rock, so I was thrilled when I found it. I have a feeling it will be making many, many appearance on the blog for the foreseeable future.

I found these jeans also in Portland and am pretty darn smitten with them as well. I love polka dots and I also love jeans, so it was pretty much meant to be that I would love these polka dot jeans. Plus they were totally on sale! Score! They also have a little bit of a stretch in them which is definitely a bonus.

I am pretty sure from now on every outfit post is going to include and silly picture or two of my cats. I just can't help it, they are too cute not to take a million pictures of them (I will do my best to not inundate you with that too often haha).

We Build Things

Handmade Sapele and Mahogany Baby Rocking Crib - Little Lady Little City
As I've mentioned before we were out in Portland recently to celebrate our friends Lex and Eric's baby shower with them. We wanted to made something super special for them being that they are family to us 'n all. We put on our thinking caps and tried to figure out what we could make that would be beautiful and practical, and we eventually landed on the idea of making them a little rocking crib that they could use in another room other than the nursery.
Handmade Sapele and Mahogany Baby Rocking Crib - Little Lady Little City
Will picked out such great woods: sapele for the crib, and mahogany for the rockers. As you can see in the before and after just adding two coats of wood oil brought out those darks grains, especially on the end cuts. Oil can pretty much changed the look of a whole piece.
Handmade Sapele and Mahogany Baby Rocking Crib - Little Lady Little City
Will's father was kind enough to lend a big helping hand and his workshop to Will so he could make this gorgeous rocking crib. Unfortunately, the majority of the building time I was chained to the computer upstairs with long work projects, but I did get to do some sanding and oiling. Will designed the crib himself, and made it so that we were able to pack up the disassembled pieces into our checked bag and reassemble it in Portland.

It was received very well, and Will is really proud of his work. It's wonderful to be able to create a thing for loved ones with loved ones, and this is a special piece that will always mean a lot to everyone involved. Do you guys make things for your friends and family for those special occasions?

Two Years And Counting

Wedding - Little Lady Little City
It's crazy to think that it's already been two years and that it's only been two years since Will and I got married here on the mountain. It's funny how time can be that way, you know? I'm so lucky to have Will in my life, and to have all our amazing family and friends who helped make the day special! I'm just sharing a couple of my favorite photos from the wedding, but if you want to check out more you can see them all here: Part 1, 2, 3. I could seriously share all of them all over again but I will restrain myself, haha.

Just an hour prior to the wedding their were storm clouds and a very cold wind blowing through, but miraculously they disappeared and we had nothing but beautiful blue skies and a warm sun shining down on us for the wedding. I think my mom had a little something to do with that.
Wedding - Little Lady Little City
We were afraid those chilly winds would come back so we moved the dance floor and pie eating back into the house. Although the house was no where done as much as we hoped it would be, everything worked out perfectly. There was lots of dancing, laughing, and just having a great time, I'm not sure how it could have been any better. We actually still have all those lights up in the living room.

I don't think people realized just how silly my dad could be, I mean look at those faces, haha.

These ladies were seriously such lifesavers, they really helped prevent the wedding stress from getting to me more than they will probably ever know. I love them all so much, and they will forever be my family.

Portland Showers

Portland Shower - Little Lady Little City
We were out in Portland last week to through our dear friends Lex and Eric a little baby shower. These two are going to make such great parents, I can seriously hardly wait to meet the newest addition when he gets here in November.

I made these little bee hives and put them all around the backyard. I will totally admit I did burn myself with the glue gun more times that I probably should have haha, but I did have a blast making all of them. I'm going to have to get the supplies so I can make a little DIY because they aren't too difficult to make.

The day was absolutely perfect for a backyard baby shower: sunny with a little breeze. As always, there was a plethora of food, and I am pretty sure I gained serval ponds just that day alone haha. We had a henna artist come out, and Will totally made an amazing bean toss game the day off out of some cardboard. Of course the bean bags had to be in the shape of sperm haha. It was super silly, but so much fun playing, and if I remember correctly Will was the winner.

Totally stole this from the fabulous Megan!
This group right here is comprised of some of my absolute favorite people around. We always have such a blast hanging out. I'm pretty sure America needs to do a little rearranging so Portland, Phoenix, and our little town are right next to each other hehe. Cannot wait to see all of their lovely faces again and meet the newest face too!!
