Purple Hair For Dayz

Purple Hair For Dayz - Little Lady Little City
I'm not sure why but I have been more bored with my hair this year than any other. I got bangs for a little while, then I chopped it all off, and now it's purple which I'm finally completely in love with. This is the first time I have ever dyed all of my hair a fun color. In college I usually had dark hair with pops of color under the bangs. How hipster of me I know, hehe.

While there hasn't been a crazy amount of humidity here in Delaware there has been enough to make my head full of flyaways! Where is the hot dry climate when you need it? Haha.

I had some issues getting this color, though, it isn't exactly the color I was originally going for I'm digging the way it came out for sure. After lightening up my hair I got the dye mixture all ready and put it in my hair then left it in for three hours, only to rinse my hair and find it basically unchanged. It was the weirdest thing, there was only one small patch that was a very, very light purple. You would think three hours would have left it more purple, but no such luck. So, the next day I added a little bit more of the purple dye with conditioner. I'm talking from a half tablespoon to a full tablespoon, and left it in my hair for 45 mins. Bam I had Grimace colored hair, haha! I washed it with a little shampoo to help lighten it up a little, at last I got the purple that is currently on my head.

I really have no clue what's going on with my mouth in the above picture. I think I was pointing at my hair but my hands got cut off. Not that that is a good reason for whatever is going on with my face haha. Anyways, I think my hair is probably going to stay this color for quite some time. I'm just so smitten with it! If you guys could color your hair any color what would it be? Or what was the funnest color you have ever dyed your hair?

  2. I had bangs at the front, a fluffy-duck-bum cut that I spiked at the back.
The bangs and back were hot pink, the rest was black. Did I mention I was a little emo then?

  3. I love it!! I've never dyed my hair (nobody will let me...) but I've always wanted to have a pastel shade, either purple (like yours!) or blue.

  5. Great colour! Which dye did you use? My friend had some trouble with Manic Panic's mystic heather (seriously didn't colour her hair at all!) but I've used a couple of their other colours (Voodoo Blue, Vampire Kiss, Violet Nights) with no trouble at all. My hair is pink right now, but I'm hoping to go green again soon! ^___^

  9. Thanks! I used Pravana in violet and really liked it. I only had to used a small amount of the dye mixed with conditioner to get this color, which is a plus!

  10. I love it! That is pretty weird that your hair didn't grab any of the colour the first time, but I'm glad it worked out in the end and that you're happy with the end result. I keep eyeing lavender coloured hair, and I'm too chicken to do it. My husband is also excited that he's able to see my natural hair colour (he's never seen it!) so I think I'll hold off on dyeing for a while, haha. I accidentally dyed my hair a bright highlighter purple in grade 10, and that was the start of my hair dyeing story, :P

  11. I love this color on you so much! One thing you can do to see how pigmented your dye is is to dab a little bit of it on a piece of toilet paper and rub it around. It sounds crazy, but you can tell how pigmented it will be based on how transparent it is! I've always done this when dying my hair a pastel shade (I've been pink, blue, and lavender!) and it has really helped. I haven't had colored hair in years, but the craziest shade I had was definitely hot pink. It was super bright, but I really loved it (and I think it ind of inspired my younger sister, because she recently dyed her hair that exact same shade!)

  15. You look SO awesome with that hair color, I love it! I've always wanted to dye my hair a fun color too but I'm too much of a scaredy-cat to take the risk. Good old brown it is for me, haha!

  16. I love it! What a pretty color and a fun year you've had with hair experimentation! Whenever I leave Arizona I realize that the dry climate here is actually perfect for my curly/frizzy hair because it really becomes a battle every where else :)

  17. I'm catching up on a week of blogs and this was the best thing I found! I have wanted candy-colored hair forever, and I also resisted a stress-impulse to cut it super short a few days ago. Your hair is perfect and you look adorable. I want teal hair, but in the soft way that you've done purple. I hope that's technical enough to make sense.

  18. Love it! I've never done a funky color but pastelish shades like this are my fave to see on other gals - looks great! :)

  19. Ive been a terrible friend..I have been MIA from my blog and ALL blogs since May, holy moly where did the time go. I just had to comment- I love the new color!! and the most fun hair color I did was flamingo pink - and when it started to fade it looked my head was on fire- the top was kinda more organish and then went down to pink- hard to explain but it looked super cool without me doing anything fancy to it!
