Plaid Shirts and Blue Jeans

It's starting to get pretty cold up on the mountains at night, I think we are going to start having to use the wood stove again. I love having a wood stove, there is just something nicer about having to lug down wood and keep it going rather than just flipping a switch on a thermometer. Now don't get me wrong, when we wake up in the morning and the house is super cold because the fire went out in the middle of the night, I will curse the wood stove for not have a little switch haha.
I feel like once fall hits I go into plaid overdrive. There is just something about the cool weather making me want to rock some plaid and boots, but I have a feeling most people feel that way too, hehe. I absolutely love this shirt, but I have a little bit of a problem with button up shirts. See, my boobs are kind of huge and just hate being contained in shirts with buttons, haha. It's one of the most frustrating things to me, because shirts fit perfectly everywhere else except for on the ladies, but if I size up I am just swimming everywhere else. I usually just wear a shirt underneath just incase the ladies decided they are tired of being in the shirt, haha.

So I actually only got one photo of the full outfit because as Will was taking these photos for me a truck was coming up the road. One car can hardly fit on the road, so we quickly ran back to our car and drove back up to our place. We hardly ever see anyone else driving up the road, but the one time we stop to do some photos of course there's a truck driving up. Just my luck I guess, haha.

Today is the last day to enter the KitchenAid Giveaway, so get your last minute entires in!

Craft it Forward

A couple weeks ago I signed up for Nicole's craft it forward, and I got a little handmade memory book from her. I cannot wait to start filling it out! It actually is absolutely perfect because I've been thinking about starting up on the Project Life, so this is a great little starter. Thank you again Nicole for the awesome craft!

Now it is my turn to Craft it Forward, so the first 5 people to leave a comment (be sure to leave your email address) will get a handmade craft from me in the mail! If you do sign up that means you also must craft it forward to five people so all this handmade fun keeps on going. Hmm now I just need to figure out what I am going to send to everyone.

Adventures Of

The other day I found myself with nothing to do so I decided to give myself a little exercise in Illustrator and the pen tool. I rarely ever use either, but have always wanted to get better at them. So I thought I would attempt to make a little comic about Wigs and Sylvester (aka Littlemin), something I have always wanted to do. I know I have a long way to go, but I don't think it's bad for an afternoon.

I have a feeling more of these comics will make their way onto the blog, especially when the two of them do more silly things, haha.

Happy Tuesday!

Peach Cobbler

Well peach season has officially come to an end here, but I couldn't go without picking up one more 1/2 peck. I wasn't too sure what I was going to do with this box of peaches (besides eating one with lunch everyday), but then I came across this amazing sounding cobbler recipe. After drooling over the pictures I decided to give it a go. I did alter it just a little bit as I like my cobblers to be not so sweet.

Ingredients:
14 peaches (you can either take the skin off or just leave it on)
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp cornstarch
1 cup flour
1/8 cup white sugar
1/4 brown sugar
1 tsp baking powered
1/2 tsp salt
6 Tbsp butter  cut into pieces
1/4 cup boiling water
cinnamon

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. Cut your peaches in to nice sized chunks, then mix in the brown sugar and cornstatch. Make sure the peaches are well covered. Place your peach mixture into a lightly grease pan and cook for 10 minutes.

While the peaches are cooking mix together your flour, brown and white sugars, salt, and baking powered. Add in the butter and mix with hands until the mixture looks similar to coarse meal. Add the boiling water until combined.

After 10 minutes remove peaches from the oven and drop spoonful of toppings over them. Then sprinkle cinnamon over the whole thing and bake for about 30 minutes or until the top is a nice golden color.
This bad boy is seriously melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and pretty darn simple to make too which is definitely a plus! Let me know if you try it out and what you think!

What to Wear : To a Bookstore

So I am trying to get back on the 'What to Wear' wagon with Nicole, it's been a little while since I last did one. I was almost thinking about skipping this one too after going back through all the photos. Oh man I swear in every photo I either looked super annoyed or was blinking haha! Do any of your outfit posters ever have one of these days? But I've decided to go ahead and put up a couple that aren't too cringe worthy, mainly because I didn't want to let Nicole down, and Will and I drove down into to town to take these photos (I really didn't want the trip to go to waste).

While I don't think this outfit is bookstore specific, I do think this is a lot of fun. Bookstore are pretty wonderful, I wish we had one close by. There is nothing like that smell of a book, new or old, they are both great. I hope I'm not weird in saying that and other people love the way books smell too :)

I can actually hardly believe that the leaves are already changing colors. With summer coming to an end I think I have it in my head that I need to wear all the bright colors right now haha. Just one last hurrah of colors before I start busting out my autumny colors. Granted I am sure there will still be some bright colors in there every now and again.

Are you guys all ready for fall or is it still warm where you are?

Hope everyone has a great Thursday, and be sure to check out what Nicole and the other ladies who linked up are wearing this week!

O Hai Fall

 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8

I don't usually do a wish list post but I just couldn't help myself after some online window shopping at two of my favorite places Forever 21 and ModCloth. I think it's pretty cruel of them to constantly coming out with so many freaking adorable things when I am not flush with cash. Ok so very rarely am I actually flush with cash, but sometimes I have enough that I can justify treating myself. Last time was when I was in Portland and actually got to go to Forever 21, my partner in crime Lex definitely helped me justify all of my purchases haha. I think I might just actually have buy #2 and #5 because they are both amazing and would look so freaking cute together!

What are some fall pieces you are loving right now? Feel free to share the links especially if you have already bought them so I can live vicariously through you all, hehe.

Better Start Working on New Poses

I think I am in desperate need of some new poses, or rather I just need to get more comfortable in front of the camera. I feel like for all of my poses I am looking over to the side haha. Damn bloggers who have this posing stuff down to a science. Oh well, maybe one day I will stop looking like a goof.

Well I did it once again, this whole outfit is once again almost entirely Forever 21, haha. Whatevers, I love Forever 21 because they have absurdly adorable stuff for super cheap which are two my favorite things. I wore this outfit last week when Will and I went to the big city to do a movie and grocery shopping. We went and saw Insidious 2 which I was super stoked to see, but we were sorely disappointed. Honestly don't waste your money, it really lost everything that made the first one so wonderfully amazing. Such a bummer.
Anyways I love this shirt, but I have always had a little trouble trying to figure out exactly how to wear it. It's all kinds of puffy which I like, but can also be a little unflattering with my body type. But I think with this vest it worked out pretty wonderfully. I think this vest might be one of my best purchases over because c'mon look how cute it is, haha.

The weather has been so absolutely lovely as of late, it has been wonderful. We've been leaving the windows open all day which is one of my favorite things to do. I love having a cool breeze flowing through the house. I'm really hoping this wonderful weather keeps up when our friends come for a visit in a couple weeks.

Sincerely Sylvester

I feel like Sylvester has grown exponentially since the last Sincerely Sylvester! He looks like he is going to be a very lanky and skinny kitty, unlike Lady Wigs who is long but thick too hehe. The two of them have been getting along with each other so well you would almost think they have known each other all their lives. Will and I have both mentioned how we can hardly remember a time without him, and that's how well he has melded with the family. Sylvester has to do everything that Wigs does, so when she goes to get some water or food he is right behind her. When they both go a little crazy in the evening they are like two little tornados ripping up and down the stairs, haha!
He can get so rambunctious that it's not all that easy for me to get a picture of him nowadays, hence the action shots. The feather game is his absolute favorite, and some days my arm gets completely worn out before he actually does. It's kind of sad when I put away/hide the feather toy he runs around trying to find it, it's pretty funny.
So as I was editing these pictures of Sylvester he comes up to my computer with a super swollen face. Poor little guy got stung or bit by something. Over the last couple of days or so it seems like all the bugs are coming out and he has tried his best to eat them all. We called the vet and they told us to just give him some Benadryl and keep an eye on the swelling.
By the time I took that first picture to these last ones his face was already looking better. His cheeks were not nearly as puffy, but his eyes were still a little swollen. It's so weird how just having a swollen face can make him look entirely different. Thankfully he doesn't seem to be in any pain and is just napping in his favorite shoe box.

Grilled Cheese

It is no secret I love me some grilled cheese sandwiches! I nearly died when we were in Portland and we went to the Grilled Cheese Bus. Yup, that's right, a grilled cheese bus filled with so many wonderful grilled cheese delights.  And with the weather starting to get cooler and cooler it is perfect time to start experimenting with my own grilled cheeses.

So this one is pretty darn delicious and is probably my current favorite. It goes wonderfully with some chips or even some tomato soup. I kind of feel like I could eat it everyday, haha.

Things you will need:
  • Sharp cheddar cheese
  • golden delicious apples
  • caramelized onions
  • dijon mustard
  • bread
If you are a fan of grilled cheeses you should really give these a try, because they are quite tasty and make a normal grilled cheese a little fancier. I think might just do a little grilled cheese series over the winter months. I think it would be fun to experiment with different types of grilled cheese to see what I can come up with. I'm pretty sure it would be hard to royally mess it up because if you put enough cheese on anything and it will be fantastic (or at least that's what I think hehe).

What are some of your favorite grilled cheeses?

Happy Monday!

Sick Day

I've been feeling a little under the weather the last couple of days, le boo. I've had this weird fuzzy headache thing that has been keeping me in a bit of a fog, which has made working a little difficult. Projects that normally only take a couple of hours have been last all day, thankfully nothing is due soon.

Anytime I ever get sick my mood just takes a nose drive and I feel all gross and kind of hate myself. It's a pretty lame problem I've always had. I've gotten a little better about not letting those feeling sink in too much, but it still kind of does. And because of this stupid feeling I didn't get a chance to take part in this week's What to Wear with Nicole, basically because everything I tried on made me look/feel awful. Hopefully next time I will be feeling better about everything. Luckily Sylvester is all about the snuggles and has been helping to lift my spirits, that and grilled cheese sandwiches. I have come across a new one that I am absolutely in love with and will be sharing soon (pretty perfect timing with it starting to get cooler outside). So hopefully this sickness and mood funk will leave soon!

I hope everyone is having a healthy Thursday.

August in Review

Can you guys believe it's already September?! Seriously August seemed to just completely fly by, more so than previous months. I guess that means we've been having lots of fun, hehe. I thought it would be fun to start a little series where I pick some of my favorite posts from the month. So here goes...
Mason Jar Chandelier DIY.
Went on a hike around the mountain and came across this haunted looking cabin.
That one time when almost my whole outfit came from Forever 21, hehe.
My favorite (and the most decorated) room in the house.
Getting to know you (err me).
Our greenhouse exploded while were were back west.

August was actually the first month in quite a while that we stuck around on the mountain the whole month. Typically we are traveling somewhere every month, but not this one and it was very enjoyable. In fact, there was a two week period were we didn't even leave the top of the mountain, and when I did finally go down into town to get our mail our PO Box was over flowing hehe.

I went on a bit of a cooking kick this month (as you probably guess from the peach posts hehe). Our neighbor gave us a bucket of tomatoes so I tried my hand at making my own pasta sauce. It came out alright, there are some things I will do differently next time. Still it worked perfectly for the lasagna I made the other night for dinner.

Did you all do anything fun in August? If you blogged about it share the link in the comments, I would love to see what you all were up to!
