DC Weekend

Last weekend we were out in DC visiting our friends Hannah and Eric before we head off to Phoenix for a while. I'm pretty sure the majority of our visits involve a a trip to the zoo, because the DC Zoo is seriously the best. First off, it is free (which I am all about), and secondly it has some of the coolest animals and enclosures. I think there were at least two new exhibits since last our last visit.
As you can see Will wore his bear hat, which I think was quite fitting. He got a couple compliments from some young kids hehe. We arrived a little after 10 which was the perfect time because the animals were really lively! The otters were so much fun, running, swimming and chipping, it was just wonderful. They were absurdly cute. The zoo also has sculptures of the animals next to their exhibits so of course we had to do some posing with them.
The best part of the trip was we finally got to see the orangutan climb across the rope bridge! If you follow me on instagram you might have already see the little video I made of it. We'd only see them walk the rope bridge in videos, which lead us to believe that they must have been CGI, ok so maybe not haha. It was so interesting watching them cruise along. Apparently they never fall, but they might poop on your head, hehe.

What is your favorite animal to see at the zoo?

  1. I always find the apes/gorillas depressing. They just look so sad so I usually skip them. I love the vampire bats! So cute with their little wings wrapped around them!

  6. Oh my gosh this is awesome! love it! We also don't get any trick or treaters where I live. We have a bag of 250 lolly pops left over from when my mom tried to use them to stop smoking, so we agreed that if by some fluke we got even one trick or treater we'd give them the whole bag haha.

    Happy Halloween!

  7. This is so cute! I grew up in the woods on a hill so we never had trick or treaters either- but you do get the spooky, chilly vibe :) Have fun tonight!

  16. Such lovely photos! Looks like a great zoo - I went to Dublin Zoo in June and saw the orangutans swinging on their ropes, going round and round and round, like if you go over the top of a swing set! :)
