Hello Mr. Sunshine

This weekend was a blast! Will and I drove out to Baltimore to hang out with our friend Shaye, which is always fun. We ended up driving out to see a couple of movies at a Drive-In, and to say I was beyond excited is an understatement! I'm saying I was able to recite the Drive-In's website almost word for word, because I had read it over so many times in anticipation, haha! I hadn't been to a drive in probably since I was 5 or 6, and the only thing I can really remember was my parents putting down a ton of blankets and pillows in the back of our van for my brother and I to lay on and watch the movie. Sadly the Drive-In wasn't playing anything we were really excited about, but it was still a lot of fun, and we definitely stuffed our bellies full of snack bar food.
I know everyone has been saying this, but I'm going to chime in too, I am so happy the weather is starting to get nice and warm again. As someone who grew up in the southwest, (and does the snowbird thing every year too) the long cold months really get to me. Now don't get me wrong I love those chilly months too, but when my family tells me about how nice and warm it is back there I get all sorts of green-eyed. But now we are getting to the months were it is perfect out here and pretty darn sweltering out there so I think they're becoming the jealous ones hehe.

I got these shoes forever ago and promptly put a narwhal and penguin on them. I think it makes them quite fancy. Also I don't know if I have ever noticed how much my vains stick out on my feet haha.

Did you guys do anything fun this weekend?

Blog Crush

I enjoy doing this little series because there are just so many amazing bloggers out there that it's fun to share some of my favorites (i.e. people I want to be BFF's with) and maybe give you all new blogs to read!
Michelle from Creature Type is one of my new favorites! I remember coming across her blog a while ago and stupidly didn't follow right then and there, I have no idea what I was thinking! But I am so happy I found it once again, especially since she has been doing her Big Book of Cats series
1 // 2
It is absolutely wonderful for so many reasons, one being that I'm so happy to know I was not the only kid drawing anthropomorphic animal ladies, though I did not keep said pictures which is probably a very good thing (I'm not as brave as Michelle). Not only is she an amazing illustrator (check out her Etsy) but she has a great sense of style as well. She always has the cutest outfits put together. So seriously what are you waiting for, go and check out her blog!

Kayla from Kaylanaut. A little while ago Kayla and I both realized that we probably had crossed paths in our youth when we both lived in Phoenix. I mean we did both hit up pretty cool places like the Willow house (coffee houses and high school kids do pretty much go hand in hand). Some of my favorite things about Kayla is her love of board games (seriously a girl after my own heart), her Project Life and 30 Days of Lists series.
1 // 2
She puts together some of loveliest pages, and seriously makes me want to start one of my own (which I will do one day). Do yourself a favor and check out her blog!

Ok enough gushing over these wonderful ladies, I hope everyone is having a lovely day.

Wild Horses

Spring is in the air, the grass is growing, things are blooming, and my allergies have started to flare up. I always seem to forget that when I'm dying for spring to get here allergies are soon to follow. Growing up in the southwest I never thought I was allergic to a single thing, but once I moved back east I felt like I was going to die from head congestion. So that first spring I lived in a crazy allergy drug haze. It was not fun. Thankfully ever since my allergies have gotten less severe and I only seem to notice them as things come back to life.
I got this shirt a couple of weeks ago because I really love the horse print, and have always wanted to have some article of clothing with an animal print. When I ordered it I didn't realize how kind of flowy it was, and I am still a little unsure about it. These kind of shirts aren't always the most flattering on me because, well, I have some large boobies haha! They seem to hang off my body a little ways making me seem larger than I really am. I'm still kind of up in the air about it, but I seriously love the color and the horses, so I think it will be making the rotation in my wardrobe quite often.
My poor new oxfords have a hole in them, ughs I am seriously so bummed! won't stop me from still wearing them though!

Work has been keeping us pretty busy this week, lots of illustration work, some of which involved me making a sexy Jessica Rabbit character, haha! Sometimes I end up making the oddest things for clients, but hey it keeps me entertained :)

Hope everyone is having a nice day!

Mountain Home: Work Area

So it has been months since my last Mountain Home post, this is mainly because we didn't really get a chance to do much before we left on our road trip for the Documentary, and we have pretty much just settled back into the house. During our trip Will and I had some pretty grand ideas of what we wanted to do when we got back, and now that we are we finally found the time to at least do a couple of them. It has felt so nice, granted we still live in a very unfinished house, but it's ours and with every little improvement we do it feels more and more finished.
Just a couple of my prints/pictures I have started to hang.
The other day Will and I (mostly Will hehe) went to work on some left over wood we had and built my absolutely amazing work area! I finally have enough desk space for all of my little knickknacks and crafting goodies. One of the many things I love about Will is if you give him a piece of wood and a saw and he will make you twenty different things, it's wonderful.
My little owls. If you couldn't tell I love owls (kind of like every other blogger it seems like).
My bookend is actually a globe ice cube holder, and it is probably the coolest gift I have ever recieved. You can't see it all that well in this picture but the handle is a rocket ship! I wish we lived closer to some friends so I could have get togethers and use it, but until they move to our mountain it will be the prettiest bookend ever.

Have you guys done any home improvements lately?

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

What to Wear: While Exercising

Ok so this is by no means a glamorous workout outfit. When I get dressed to workout I tend to not even look in the mirror while I'm getting ready. I don't care how my hair looks or anything really, I just want to get the work out over and done with, haha! Thankfully with it getting warmer outside I get to move my workout outside, which I love.
So my go to work out outfit is just an oversized shirts (usually one of Will's much to his dismay hehe), running/spandex pants and my good old pair of incredibly bright blue sneakers. When I lived back in Phoenix and LA and went to the gym I used to get the strangest looks from people when I wore these shoes, I know they are bright but 'cmon they aren't that crazy.

Be sure to go check out what the lovely Nicole is sporting, and check out all the other wonderful ladies who linked up this week!

10 Year High School Reunion Say Whaaat?

Guys I can hardly believe I am actually saying this, but my 10 year high school reunion is this November! I have been out of high school for a decade now and I still have a hard time believing it. Really, it feels like only a couple years ago I was rolling out of bed five minutes before I had to leave and putting on my uniform, throwing my hair up in a bun and heading off to school. It's really weird how time seems to have flown by so quickly.

I'm pretty excited/nervous about the reunion. Excited to show Will around my alma mater, and to see all the new buildings they have built since I was there (I seriously think it's about five or so haha). Nervous about seeing everyone. The sad truth is I don't talk to half the people I hung out with back then; either lost contact or had a falling out/they chose the other person's side in said falling out. But I am sure it will be lots of fun catching up with the people I just lost touch with, and I have a feeling the night will be filled with laughter with Will by my side.

So have any of you guys hit your 10 year reunion yet? Did you go? Was it fun?

Blue Skies and Warm Sunshine

We are back out in DE visiting Will's parents and going to doctor appointments. This is probably the most ridiculous thing to admit, but what the heck, we drive back to DE every year so I can go to my yearly doctor appointment out here, because I simply adore my doctor. She is the most wonderful lady I have ever met and I can not bare trying to find someone to replace her out in WV, haha. That might sound a little crazy but when I was younger I was sick a lot and always saw different doctors (who were not the best with kids and just kind of horrible) so when I actually find one I like actually like I'm not going to let moving five hours away ruin that haha! Thankfully we can tie it in with a visit with Will's parents.
This is another dress I got during ModCloth's Cabin Fever Sale (I told you I went a little bit overboard hehe). I absolutely love the detail around the top, I am just a big old sucker for anything with lace. I think my only complaint with it is it's a little short for me, which is usually not much of a probably seeing how I am fairly short myself (5' 4 3/4" I totally actually add the 3/4 when I say my height because I am still in denial of my shortness haha) Funny story, when I was little my orthodontist told my brother how tall we were probably going to be based on our teeth (a science I don't understand or believe anymore) my brother was almost spot on, but for me it was about 7 inches off! I had dreams of being 5' 11" and when I hit this height in about third grade I just new it was going to happen. Then I just stopped growing. It was one of the saddest years in my life when I went from being the tallest of everyone in my class to one of the shortest. I think I need a support group hehe.

I am all kinds of in love with this turban. I've been absolutely loving the look for quite sometime, but always a little afraid to try it myself. I stepped out of my comfort zone, however, and gave it a whirl and have been really loving it. Granted, there have been a couple of times when I look at my hair and go 'yikes' because the turban has slipped up, but now I just keep an eye on it better.
And just for good measure the 'I'm pretty much done taking pictures' goofy pose. I tend to bust out all my Glamour Shot poses from the 90's when I have had about enough, haha. But 'comon who doesn't love the peek-a-boo pose haha.

Are there any styles you guys have recently tried that were a little outside of your comfort zone? Did you end up loving or hating it?

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Little Bits and Pieces

1 // Indoor picnic dinner the other night. We had planned on having a normal outdoor picnic the other day because it was really nice and warm, but once dinner time came rolling around it was quite windy and chilly outside. 2 // A tiny vole we came across when cleaning up some apple trees outside. He kind of looks more like a mouse there, but but looking directly at him he has quite the adorable little squished face. 3 // If you follow me on the Instagram you might have already seen this picture. The littlest completely pooped after our morning walk.

It has been so nice up here on the mountain lately, still a little chilly but it's getting a little warmer, which is really nice. I can hardly wait till we can start barbecuing and eating outside again, one of my favorite ways to do dinner.

Fitness Sundays

The lovely Gentri turned me onto the great drink ever, Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie! Will and I have been making this amazingly delicious drink as our breakfast, and not only is it super yummy but it's incredibly filling too, which really helps out with cutting out any midday snacking.

What you need
  • 1 Frozen Banana
  • 1 Cup of Ice
  • 1 Cup of Milk
  • 2 Tbsp Peanut Butter
  • 1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder (optional but it makes for a nice little addition every so once in awhile)
Put all ingrediants in a blender and blend until smooth and enjoy your delicious milkshake like drink.

Breezy Days

This dress was another one I got from ModCloth during their big Cabin Fever sale a while back. It's quickly becoming one of my absolute favorites, even if it isn't the most practical with the recent temperaturs up here on our mountain. I lucked out with it being so lovely the other day, so it ended up working perfectly.  When I added this dress to my shopping cart I was kind of unsure what I thought about it. I actually added it because it just pushed me over the free shipping base price, this little lady loves free shipping hehe. But once I got it and tried it on all my doubts quickly went out the window, I was pretty smitten.
I am feeling pretty desperate for a hair cut/styling, but I am a little hesitant to getting it done in town. I used to not be all that fussy when it came to who did my hair, but when I was in college visiting family in Texas I got my hair done and ended up with mile high blonde streaked hair, haha. It was pretty awful, but I am the absolute worst at telling a hairdresser that I am not liking what they doing, so I just let them keep going. I guess I can really only blame myself, haha! So it looks like I will just have to wait till my next trip to Phoenix and hopefully I can get an appointment with my favorite stylist.

Speaking of Phoenix I got these amazing oxfords when I was out there for my brother and sister-in-law's baby shower. I had been looking for a nice pair of oxfords for what seems like forever (or at least the past year hehe), so I was extremely happy when I found these. Especially because they were the very last pair they had!

Wonderful Surprises

A couple weeks ago I got the most delightful email from the lovely Crystalyn over at FlavorPink. She wrote to let me know that she had used one of our wedding photos when trying out some new water colors. To say I felt completely honored that she would even pick a photo of Will and I would be a complete understatement. I've never had anyone just randomly paint a picture of me. It's a pretty surreal kind of feeling. Then she asked if I would like the picture, to which I ecstatically said yes
I am such a sucker for nice packaging
Earlier this week I got the painting in the mail, and I must say it is even more wonderful in person. I just need to find a nice little frame for it so I can set it up right next to my desk.
And if any of you guys are interested in getting your own custom painting from Crystalyn, she had kindly offered a 20% discount code to her shop for all of my readers! Just use 'LITTLELADY20'

Little Lady Little Kitchen Ep 1

As most of you guys know I enjoy baking/sharing recipes with you all, so after chatting with Will we came up with the idea of combining our video making talents with my love of baking. Thus, Little Lady Little Kitchen was created! I am ridiculously excited, it was tons of fun to put together! I really hope you guys enjoy it!

Little Lady Little Kitchen Episode 1 from Amanda on Vimeo
I'm hoping to make this a bimonthly series (I would love to do it every week but that might be pushing it a little hehe). I already have an idea for Episode 2 and I must say it is a really good one. Eee! I seriously can't wait to do another one of these!

Recipe under the cut.
