Getting Jolly

She really doesn't seem to mind this too much, which is good because I am becoming one of those people who dress up their cats. Don't judge!
Happy December everyone! Can you believe we are already in December, I hardly can! My to do list has seemingly doubled since yesterday haha. Just like a lot of other people, I really enjoy the holidays. I love getting little gifts for all of my family and friends, and getting to see people I often don't.

There was a couple of years after my mom passed that every holiday was just not as much fun. She was the one who always went all out for us. I'm talking fully decorated tree,  pj gifts on Christmas eve, and a big brunch Christmas morning. But after a couple years of just ok Christmas's I decided last year to take matters into my own hands. I think it being both my sister-in-law and Will's first Christmas with us really helped. I just really got into the holiday spirit even if it was completely different from what mom did. We made some new wonderful traditions, board games, movies, and chinese food! It was really wonderfully fun, I can hardly wait for this year!

Will and I started the holidays in kind of the most wonderful way this year. We bought a Lego advent calendar, hehe. We are just big kids!
It's all kinds of amazing: you get a mini fig, pieces to build different vehicles, and I even think a little Santa mini fig is going to show up soon! Eee it's really exciting! The advent calendar was one of my favorite things as a kid, so I think this is going to a yearly tradition for us as well.

Do you guys have any new or old traditions? I'd love to hear what you all do!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday! Unfortunately, I have to get back to some work, le boo! Hopefully it won't take too long to get done.

  1. A lego advent calender?!? I had no idea such things existed! That's awesome.

When I was younger i had to share an advent calender with my sisters, so I'd only get a chocolate every third day. But now my sisters have moved out I get one all to myself :)

  4. Honey you have all my admiration for taking the situation in your own hands. My sisters and me have been spending Christmas Eve cooking a huge dinner together since our parents divorced and we were very young. We've been keeping this tradition so far even if two of us are married for the youngest sister's sake. When she has her own home I'm confident we will keep this tradition and stick together no matter what. I send you loads of love and courage to cheer yourself up and make this Christmas special. Your mom will be at your side giving you confidence!big hug Coco

  10. I'm pretty much obsessed with your reindeer kitty! We have a santa costume we subject our cats to yearly, but they would never pose for a picture that adorable!

  16. aww, it's a terrible thing to admit as a cat owner but Wig-wog is seriously the cutest cat! My cat Lina would never ever let me get near her with anything that she suspects might be put on her, let alone her head!
I've never seen/heard of a lego advent calendar but it's adorable! And definitely healthier than the chocolate ones ;)

  19. Just stumbled across your blog and I think I love you, haha! (Can I say that to a stranger?) Your description of life in an abandoned orchard is adorable, and this post had me cracking up. I love legos. I think this is a perfect Christmas tradition to have. I live in Denmark most of the year, not too far from the official original LegoLand, the country where legos were invented ... of course, our lego land in the States is bigger. ;)

    I'll be back, lady.
