Let's Get Physical

I'm not a hundred percent sure why every time I work out I think of this video, to be honest I think I have only actually seen it in its entirety once, but I guess that was enough to remember it hehe! With Will and I working from home on our computers all day we make a very conscience effort to work out at least 6 days a week, not to say there are weeks where we aren't even close to this goal, but we try. Will is a lot better at being motivated about working out than I, and it's not that I don't enjoy it after we are done working out I always feel so energized and wonderful, it's just the getting started I am horrible at. Everyday Will right before lunch says, "Ready to work out?" and he always get the most unenthusiastic "I guess" or sometimes I like to change it up and just shout "Noooooooooo!" hahaha. I have really tried started to make a better effort to be more motivated about working out at least in my head, and hopefully soon it will be me asking Will if he is ready for the work out.

Anyone else feel this way? And if so how do you get yourself motivated?

Sunday Snapshot #16

November 2006
This picture is from one of many family Thanksgivings in Texas.  After my mom passed away my dad, brother and myself started to do either Thanksgiving or Christmas with my aunt (my dad's sister) and her family. It was my mom who always made big deals about the holidays so it has always been nice to still get to have those kind of extravagant holidays.  I believe the pies we are trying to eat were two of Nana's world famous (or at least famous to us) chocolate and pumpkin pies! Now I am not sure why we were entrusted with making sure these guys made it safely to the dinner,  because we have been known to break into the pies before the actual dinner, hehe!
Hope everyone is having a fun Sunday!

Wedding Inspiration

Holy cow Batman, even though we only sent out our wedding invitations just last week we are already getting the R.S.V.Ps back! I have to say it's pretty darn exciting, I have always absolutely loved getting things in the mail so much so I even enjoy getting junk mail, hehe. I will admit though I did have a moment of panic when every card we were getting all said 'Yes We Are Coming!', even though we really didn't invite many people and they are all people we would love to have at the wedding, I got it in my head way early on that less than half of the people we invite would actually come. The wedding is kind of out in the middle of no where West Virginia, I mean the closest airport is over two hours away! But hey the more the merrier!

When I first started to think about our wedding I had what I thought was a super silly and not very plausible idea, I wanted to find all different sets of chairs for the reception. And after a while I moved it from this 'I will make this happen' ideas, to the 'Oh I can dream' ideas.  Then the other day while looking at one of my favorite inspiration websites I came across this photo which is pretty much the spitting image of what I have in my mind!
(source )
Eeee! This gives me so much hope that I can actually make this happen! It is just so wonderfully beautiful and with our wedding taking place up on a mountain in an apple orchard I think the mismatched chairs will fit in perfectly. I have officially put two of my east coast brides ladies on the mission of helping me scouring Craigslist and Freecycle, thank goodness they are the absolute best and are totally game for the challenge! So if you wouldn't mind keep your fingers crossed for me and my quest for chairs!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

P.S. I am thinking about making this kind of blog post a weekly thing on Saturdays. What do you guys think?

Four Years!

First off thank you so much for all your wonderful comments on the Amy Poehler painting! I cannot wait to do more, and will surely post them here for all to see :)

Secondly today Will and I are celebrating four years together! We are both kind of shocked that it has only been four years, because we feel like we have been together for much longer. We have been living together for almost three years now, and because we both work from home we are very rarely apart, which probably adds to the feeling of being together longer. We are constantly having those moments where we are retelling a memory from earlier in our lives and realizing half way through that we didn't know each other yet, hehe.

So in honor of our four year anniversary I thought it was about time to share some of our engagement photos, taken by my wonderful friend Megan.
Obviously this is our best model faces, hehe!
I think this is one of my favorites because it's a glimpse into the silliness that is Will :)
We had a lot of fun getting all dressed up to do these, and Megan did a wonderful job! I'm so excited that she is will to shoot our wedding too!

I hope everyone had a great Valentines Day and are having a wonderful Wednesday!

Wonderful Surprises!

The other day Will surprised me with an early anniversary gift, my very own Wacom tablet! I was over the moon with excitement because I have been wanting one ever since I first started to steal/borrowed his, hehe.

And now I am able to join in on the painting fun with Will and start painting for my own pictures. It's a pretty silly sight, every night Will and I sit next to each other in bed with laptops on our laps and Wacom tablets on our right painting away. I have to say it's kind of crazy addicting, in the past two nights since I got the tablet I've probably almost 20 hours painting, totally ignoring other work, but don't fret I shall be finishing up previously mentioned other work today.

Anyways without further ado here is my first painting.
It's Amy Poehler just incase you can't tell.
Now I know it is far from prefect, but I have to say I am pretty happy with it! I've already started on my next one, which I am finding slightly harder than this one because it has a lot more shadows, but hopefully I can make it work.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday!

Wait A Minute Mr. Postman

Well we finally did it, we got all of our wedding invitations made, packaged and mailed off.  It was really kind of a bitter sweet moment dropping them off at our local Post Office.  After spending weeks creating these wonderful little art pieces we have to send them out into the world, and I know most of the people who get them will absolutely love them, but I have a feeling there are a couple people who won't really care about them, but I think that might be for other reasons.

Don't mind my squinty face, the sun was directly in my eyes, hehe!

Of course made sure to keep one for ourselves to put in a scrap book or maybe frame with some of our engagement photos. I have a feeling both Will and I will love getting to look back on the invitations that we created ourselves and remember all of the hard work we put in it.

Eeee, I can hardly wait for everyone to get them in their mailboxes!

Fun Work Travels

As I mentioned in a previous post Will and I have been doing a fair amount of traveling up to New Jersey for work. Some how we got two jobs up there within two weeks, it was pretty weird, because honestly I never thought I would actually spend any amount of time in Jersey let alone twice in the same month, hehe.

I think my favorite part of the whole trip was getting to take the ferry over, the type of ferry you drive your car on! We have never been on the ferry before so it was especially exciting. We tried our best to get some fun pictures, but we were only able to last about 10 seconds outside before we nearly froze to death, it was unbelievably cold!
Our best captain impressions :)
I think I was pretty ready to go inside at this point, hehe!

It was a pretty wonderful ride, not having to drive for over an hour made it even better and then even had WiFi on the boat so we were able to keep ourselves entertained. Hopefully we will get to take it again for work, maybe in the summer, when we can get more photos outside without freezing out butts off.

Happy Monday!

P.S. Did anyone else watch the Kitty Halftime during Animal Planets Puppy Bowl last night? I made Will watch it with me and I don't think he was all too thrilled about it, but it's not like we were watching the actual Super Bowl of anything, hehe!

Ahhhh!!! Will made this illustration last night and it's pretty much the bee's knees! Not only is Parks and Recreation one of my favorite shows I also absolutely love Ron Swanson!!! I think I have convinced Will that he should do a series of these to for our walls! Eeeeee! It is almost sad how excited I am about this!

Feel free to tell Will how much you love it too!

Just A Little Rant

Have you ever seen the episode of How I Met Your Mother 'The Chain of Screaming'? If not let me give you a brief summery: the chain of screaming is when your boss's boss yells at your boss so then your boss yell at you then you end up screaming at someone beneath you. It is a pretty crappy system if you ask me and when I saw the episode I remember laughing so hard because I honestly didn't think such a thing could exist. I mean how could real people actually do that to one another right?

Sadly I have come to realize that there are people exactly like this as I have recently been on the receiving end of the screams. Well less screams and more childish passive aggressive emails. But unlike the chain I don't scream at anyone below me. There is no one below me but mainly because I am not the type of person who would do that to someone else. I cannot fathom how screaming at someone could help a situation much less make you feel better. I know after it happened to me I felt miserable and belittled, which is not a feeling I would want to inflict on another person.

Thankfully with freelance work I don't have to put up with this kind of behavior for long, once I'm done working on a job for a client who does act like this I can simply choose not to work for them again.  I don't think any amount of money is worth being treated that a way, and I guess I'm lucky that I'm in a positon where I can say enough is enough.

Side notes it's finally Friday and I am officially taking the weekend off from all edits so I can finish our wedding invitations and hopefully get them out next week. Figures crossed!!

Cut, Cut, Cut!

Between our recent travels up to New Jersey for work (more on that later) I have been hard at work cutting and putting together our wedding invitations that Will did some absolutely amazing illustrations for. I don't think we realized how much work there was actually going to be when we decided to do all 74 invitations ourselves. But even with all the work I know we wouldn't have it any other way.

I created a nice little temporary cutting station where my sewing machine usually sits and just went to town. Unfortunately I ran out of double sided tape only 15 invitations in and couldn't get to the store till today, so I just went a head and cut the majority of the colored card-stock for the invitation backs. I honestly thought a full role of double sided tape would  have lasted me a lot more than 15 invitations, but I guess actually it would be more like 75 seeing how there are 5 parts to each invitations, so I think it held its own pretty well, hehe!
I was watching 'United States of Tara' while working, and was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the show. I'm not the biggest Diablo Cody fan and was afraid the show would be very Juno-esqu, but for the most part it wasn't. So if you are looking for a new show to check out I recommend it.  Znd all three seasons are on Netflix instant view, which is an added bonus!
This is just a little glimpse of the invitations, once I am them all put together I will put up some more detailed shots of them.
I know that may look like quite a few invitations there but that is seriously less than ten haha!
Hopefully I get them all finished up by this weekend so I can get them out next week. Fingers crossed!
