Will and I have been hard at work on the house the last couple of days and also have been hard at work getting injuries, nothing too bad thank goodness.  But I wanted to share this super kind of funny injury I ended up getting.  I clocked my head on the corner of a cinder block yesterday (which I don't recommend doing) and it hardly left a mark, then I woke up this morning with this little 'A' where I got hit.  I couldn't help but laugh because it is just so silly, I kind of almost hope it scars and I will forever have an 'A' on my forehead (maybe that's a little weird)
Sorry for the crappy photo, photobooth doesn't like close-ups I guess.

High Apple Mountain

We are once again up on the mountain to work on the house some more, and are hoping to be able to get the roof on during this trip, fingers crossed.

I love coming up doing the fall when the trees are all changing colors.  Growing up in Phoenix AZ many of the trees kept their leaves all year long so I only occasionally saw all those wonderful yellow and orange colors.  As far back as I can remember I alway wanted to live in a place where there were actual seasons and the trees changed colors. I remember watching the movie Hocus Pocus (and pretty much every other halloween movie from when I was young) and seeing the towns they took place with all the wonderful colors in the trees and knowing that I want to one day end up in a place like that.  And once the this house is actually done I will! Eeeee, I can hardly wait for it to be done!
The fields are just filled with these tiny white and yellow flowers now, its so pretty.
I love this picture because it almost looks like I am standing in a dip because of how the tree and the grass is going.

I can't wait till we move up here and I will be able to wear things other than my work pants, haha!
Will had our friend Shaye make this owl hat for my birthday, not sure if you can tell put the ties have little claws at the end them! Eeee! It's pretty much the greatest thing ever!

Mini Pies

I am sure most people would agree with me when I say that miniaturizing almost anything makes it even more adorable especially when it comes to animals and baked goods!
I mean come on a mini bunny in a teacup, what is not to love!
And talk about adorable and yummy!
So because I have no tiny animals to put in cups, I decided to make some wonderfully yummy mini peach pies.  I recently came across the best pie crust recipe ever! I highly recommend giving it a try if you are ever in the need of making a pie crust.
The pie crust recipe made enough for six mini pies, but we couldn't wait long enough to photograph them before we sampled a couple :)

The peach pie filling I used I just made up as I went a long. and it goes as follows...

1 can peaches
1 Tbs white sugar
1/8 cup of brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg

Drain the can of peaches and mash them up in a large bowl.  Add all the try ingredients to the massed peaches and mix together.

Place the pie crust in greased cupcake sheet. Then spoon the peach mixture almost to the top of the pie crust.

Bake at 350 for 30-40 mins.

And voilà you got yourself some wonderful nom noms.  And you don't have to feel bad about eating a whole pie :)

Well Hello There...

Today Will and I took on the task of moving a whole mountain-esk stack of firewood from one inconvenient spot to a much more convenient one, and while doing so we came across this not so little fella...
This slug was huge! I tried to show a comparison with the quarter, but of course he curled up as soon as I put it done near him, what a jerk, haha!
Will was pretty excited because he (nor I) have ever seen a slug so big! It was crazy!

Yummies in Our Tummies

Today I decided to make some snickerdoodles, manly because I was/am still waiting for notes on my edits (which is probably the most annoying thing about my work, I've been waiting on some notes since July, le boo) and because Will has been working so hard and was getting a little stressed out I thought it would be a yummy little treat!

I could hardly wait for them to be done! They made the kitchen smell so wonderful!

I must admit they do taste as yummy as they look, it has been so hard not to gobble them all down today, haha! I will put the recipe that I used just under the cut, incase any of you all would like to make some for your very own.

Nom Nom Nom

While Will was waiting for a render to finish up he came across the most amazing thing the internet has ever seen at least today.  He found this ...
Chocolate bowls! Ahhh I could hardly contain my excitement when I saw it! I knew I had to make them immediately! We ran out to the store so I could get some semi-sweet chocolate chips and I started to melt them as soon as we got back home.

The first balloon I tried went pop, I think because the melted chocolate was still to hot!

I put the tape on because I was afraid just popping the balloon would break the bowl.
I think one crucial was left out of the photo instruction, putting some veggie oil on the balloons so they don't stick to the chocolate.  But after lots of peeling we got the balloons off :)

Once we got the balloons unstuck from the chocolate bowls I got super excited, scooped in some ice cream and quickly devoured the yumminess, only to then realize I didn't take any pictures of the finished product oops.   But I am sure you can imagine all the wonderfulness of it!

Sunday Snapshot #4

Came across this photo while archiving photos from an old laptop.  This was in 2005 (as you can probably tell by the 2005 up in top left corner haha),  and I want to say this was during my first visit out to LA to visit the wonderful Alesha.  I don't believe either of us had ever been to Universal Studios before so we thought it would be a fun trip. Good times were had!

Lovely Sounds

Editing has been a little crazy this week, but I have a little bit of time while waiting for a render so I thought I would do a quick post.

My lovely friend Dani and her band Oui Je Suis made this song a couple of months ago and I am still absolutely in love with it! Eeee I just love it so much, so I thought you all might love it as mush as I do.  Enjoy!

One Brick at a Time

So Will and I have been up on the mountain again plugging away at the house, and even though it looks like we got a lot of work done we still have so much more to go sadly, but we are getting there.  Will makes fun of me because I always get really antsy the last hour or so on a plane and I am starting to get the same way with the house, we are getting closer but are still a ways away, haha! But in the meantime we are able to come up and hang out up here and just relax in between working on the house, so that helps a little.
We poured the front door archway and finished the front walls.  Will now says it kind of looks like a koala bear, haha!
Will making a new batch of cement, I'm pretty sure this was number ten of twenty.
And we found this little guy while pruning up some of the apple trees.  I tried to look up to see if he was poisonous or not but could not find a conclusive answer, so we moved him down to the woods just incase.

And here is a goofy photo of Will just for good measure!

We are headed back to Delaware tomorrow, but will hopefully be able to get back to the mountain to work on the house some more very soon!

Hope you all had a great three day weekend!
